BIG FIRE

September 5, 2020

We were cleaning up the house and picking up the backyard getting ready for our friends to come over to swim for the day.
Miles and Andie were taking the trash out when they came running in to tell me they saw a HUGE spark light up the hills.
Sure enough a massive fire broke out and they saw it happen.

(back story....there was a couple doing a gender reveal with their family.  It was the reveal that shoots out  blue or pink smoke...A spark hit the plants and it spread. The family ran to get water from the car and it was too late....)

We kept checking out front and got more sad every time.
There were so many fire truck, air tanks, and  helicopters going.
It was so loud, the ground was constantly shaking from the low aircraft, the sky was so black and it felt so apocalyptic.

Our friends came over and we swam for a little but really it was so over stimulating for everyone.
The younger ones were crying because it was so crazy.

We ended up just going inside with the air conditioner to play and watch movies.
(we love these friends. our daddys work together at the fire station)
It started spreading in directions they didnt think would happen.
It went up and over and crossed a street and spread all over Oak Glen.
Thousands and thousands of acres burned for DAYS!

The next day our eyes were burning, Miles was coughing and I had a new born.
I called Jen and asked if we could come out for the day to get away from the smoke.
She said we could stay as long as we needed.
I had been gone for an hour when my neighbor called in a panic asking if I knew something and that's why I got out of town.
Apparently the fire came back down the the column collapsed and things went black and people were freaking out.
I called Romney at work(who works for a completley different fire department) and he rushed home to get things, get our dog, and cover up our vents.
Romney the fireman met our neighbors in the street and told them how to protect their homes as best as they could with all the embers flying everywhere.

So we were in Riverside with the Williamsons while the chaos struck at home.
We were greeted with hugs.
And clean air.

We ended up staying there for several days to let things settle down.
Our house was fine and all ended well.
The kids played outside.

 We swam at the neighbors.

We ate snacks, did crafts

and just loved being together!

Dallin and Lane are thee naughtiest and cutest little toddlers!

And baby Kit was a dream baby through the whole ordeal.
Whenever I would talk about needing to go home
Jen and Porter said "no, its safer here"
but really they just wanted Kit cuddles!

SO grateful everyone was safe and that we have a village outside our village who will take us in
IN A MOMENTS NOTICE--even the dog was welcomed.
