Peru Part III

April 2019

We flew to Juliaca and made our way to Puno.
We dropped off our things at the hotel and took off.
The sun was going down and we wanted to see what we could.
I fell in love with this baby in her carrier.
I know we have baby carriers in the U.S. but its so fun to see other moms and babies in different cultures.
We found a hilarious store owner.
She grabbed Romneys hand and guided him to her shop and got him dressed so fast and insisted we needed to buy it all.
We didnt buy any of it but we all left with pins she gave
to us!

That night we went to a traditional Peruvian dinner and show.

We sat and enjoyed our food

and were so entertained with the dancing and music.

The next morning we left for our next adventure!
Lake Titicaca was such a unique experience.
I was super nervous about this "local stay" but it ended up being AMAZING!
We took a cab to Puno that took us on a wild goose chase.
We stopped at random markets along the way.
Come to find out, the cabby was picking up all the ingredients we needed for our stay out on the lake.
We got dropped off and we were greeted by a man on a little boat.
We all got in and off we went.
We slowly went through the reeds and made our way to Khantati.
We got to our floating island and were greeted by thee sweetest, happiest, little lady named Christina.
She was so fun and truly the best host.

She took us to our rooms.
They were adorable.
We had beds, running water at the sink and little toilets.
Every night Christina brought hot water bottles to put in our beds for heat.
They were needed and they really did work.

We learned that Christina used to do "home stays" where her guests truly lived like the locals.
They fished and ate what they caught etc..
She learned that in theory people wanted to do a "home stay" but didnt really want to live like it.
So she took cooking classes, and has traveled the world to see what people like.
She saw that people like to sit under umbrellas by water so she had her husband make a sitting area (all out of reeds)
The best food we had in Peru was made by Christina!
Hands down.
She has learned and applied and has flourished!
Her home is beautiful and so is she.
We really did love her!
The nights were so cold!
But the sunsets were gorgeous!!
We loved seeing the puma reed boats on the water.
Fun fact: the boat is floating thanks to 2 liter bottles. They last about two years and then they have to rebuild a new one.

On our second day,  Christina pulled out all the dress ups.

These clothes are so colorful and so fun.
We had so much fun being silly.

Lake Titicaca didnt disappoint.

We were sad to leave but we we were anxious to go back to where we started: Cuscos.
We finally got to explore that place
